Special Thank You
I can’t believe it, this is my second award in a couple weeks. I am so honored, I would like to thank Tracy from tracyherbener.com for nominating me for this award. Tracy and I are in an online group for Christian bloggers together. She writes about life, Family, and her faith, and not necessarily in that order.
Her latest post: “Should Other People’s Comments Matter” was really great to read. I could completely relate to her situation. She explained that a customer came in and pointed to her seat and without realizing she was the same individual called her heavy. This obviously struck a nerve with her and how she handled it was professional and inspirational. Being that I have struggled with my weight my whole life I could relate to how badly that comment would have penetrated the depth of her self confidence. You should definitely take a moment to read it and follow her.
The Liebster Award
The Liebster Award 2017 is an award that exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers. The earliest case of the award goes as far back as 2011. Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.
1.)For what in your life do you feel most grateful? My children and husband. When I was 21 and was newly married I wanted a family so badly. We tried for 5 years and during that time I was told I would never be able to have children. That was before I had 3 little men (now tell me there’s no God). I’m also grateful for my husband. He challenges me daily, and is my biggest supporter and best friend.
2.)When do you find time to blog? This is a challenge I face everyday. I work an hour from my house and leave for work at 430am. As soon as I get off work I rush (within the speed limit most days) over to the boys school then home to get them changed and over to some after school activity. I have learned that I get most of my blogging done while we are at practice and I can sit in the car and watch while corralling my 3 year old, which is harder than it sounds.
3.)What is your favorite book or series? (Besides the Bible :)) I listen to audio books (I go through about 2 books a week this way on the way to and from work). I am currently finishing A Case For Faith and will start Fervent by Priscilla Shirer (she is one of my favorite authors right now)
4.) Bike or Train? Train, we took the train from Williams, Az to the Grand Canyon this past summer and had such a great time. We’ve also taken the train to Santa’s Workshop in Flagstaff, Az and the boys were in heaven. It’s funny, I just realized we have lots of trains in California but apparently we only ride the ones in Arizona.
5.)Describe your dream vacation: Traveling the country with my family. It’s our favorite thing to do in the summer. Last summer we piled our 3 boys into a rented Nissan Rogue and saw 10 states in 2 weeks. They still tell us it was their favorite adventure ever.
6.) Beach or Mountain? Living in southern California we live an hour from the mountains and the beach, and while I enjoy a good bonfire on the beach singing songs, my heart truly belongs to the cool crisp air and calm serenity that comes with the mountains.
7.)What would be your ideal morning (or start of day) look like? Waking up, making a cup of tea, going outside by a lake or under the trees and taking a quiet moment to enjoy all that God has made.
8.) If you had to pick a Bible verse that serves as a mantra for you at this point in your life, what would it be and why? When my oldest two were 3 yrs and 8 months old I became a single mom who worked full time and put myself through RN school. I was often worried about what we would eat, how I would pay my bills, and even how I would provide transportation. Since then I have had multiple health issues, and this bible passage has always been my guide:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Prov 3:5-8
9.)Describe a special time in your life. Oh my goodness, there are so many. It is the birth of my children and my marriage. Just the thought of these memories warms my heart.
10.) If you could give someone $1,000,000 who would you give it to? Just one person? That’s quite a bit for one person. I’d want to give it to a battered women’s shelter. I went through some scary things when my oldest two were babies, but I can’t even fathom what they have been through. Those women are so scared and give up everything to face the unknown in order to survive and/or protect their children. Even a small amount of financial security would bring them so much comfort.
11.)If you could only take 1 more trip, where would you go? That’s like asking what my last meal would be. I guess on a European trip to see Ireland, Greece, Italy, France, and England.
